Center of Excellence for Bariatric Surgery –  Lawrence Memorial Hospital of Medford

American Society for Bariatric Surgery

This special designation puts Lawrence Memorial Hospital of Medford among an elite group of select hospitals in Massachusetts. The hospital’s bariatric surgery program was named a Center of Excellence after a stringent review process by the Surgical Review Corporation (SRC), which found the program satisfactorily met the high standards set forth to be designated a Center of Excellence. In the United States, there are fewer than 250 hospitals designated as American Society for Bariatric Surgery Centers of Excellence.

Blue Distinction is a designation awarded to medical facilities that have demonstrated expertise in the delivering quality healthcare. The designation is based on rigorous, evidence-based selection criteria established in collaboration with expert physicians’ and medical organizations recommendations.

Center of Excellence – Lawrence Memorial/Regis College Nursing Program

National League for Nursing

The Lawrence Memorial/Regis College Nursing Program as part of Regis College School of Nursing and latestnlnHealth Professions has been designated a Center of Excellence in Nursing Education by the National League for Nursing (NLN). It is the first NLN Center of Excellence designation in New England and there are fewer than 25 in the country.

Each year since 2004, the NLN has invited nursing schools to apply for this designation based on their ability to demonstrate sustained excellence in faculty development, nursing education research, or student learning and professional development. Schools must also have a proven commitment to continuous quality improvement.

Approval With Commendations – Hallmark Health Cancer Center

American College of Surgeons

The approval with commendations recognizes the high quality of the programs offered at the Hallmark Health Cancer Center and follows a site visit where staff from the American College of Surgeons examined cancer registry data, attended a tumor board meeting, toured Hallmark Health’s cancer center facilities and reviewed more than 50 patient records.
