Hallmark Health names system vice president, chief medical officer

Dr. Doherty is currently the president of the Hallmark Health Medical Staff and is also a member of the Board of Trustees. He previously served as president of the medical staff at Melrose-Wakefield Hospital and chairman of the Credentials Committee. Dr. Doherty is also a member of several subcommittees throughout the system looking at issues such as strategic planning and facilities resources as well as quality and risk management.

“In all of the roles he has taken on, Dr. Doherty has shown tremendous leadership, a steadfast commitment to quality patient care and an ability to build bridges among and between physicians, administrators and trustees,” said Michael V. Sack, President and Chief Executive Officer of Hallmark Health System. “His skill set will be an asset to the executive leadership team as well as the medical staff.”

Dr. Doherty, who received his medical degree from Georgetown University School of Medicine, is well respected in the community and by his patients. His involvement in professional medical organizations is extensive. He is board certified in orthopaedic surgery by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery, Inc., is a Fellow in the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, and holds membership in the American College of Physician Executives, Massachusetts Medical Society, Massachusetts Orthopaedic Association and the New England Orthopaedic Society. Dr. Doherty is also on the Board of Advisors of Catholic Charities, North Region, in Lynn and is past Chairman of their Advisory Board.
