Geriatric Medical-Psychiatric Program
Lawrence Memorial Hospital of Medford
Located at Lawrence Memorial Hospital, the Medical-Psychiatric program is the longest running program of its kind in the state of Massachusetts. The Medical-Psychiatric inpatient unit specializes in providing evaluation and treatment of psychiatric disorders in the geriatric population, often complicated by acute/chronic medical problems. Common reasons for admission include late-life depression, psychosis, bipolar disorder, delirium and dementia-related behavioral disturbances. The program combines the expertise of psychiatrists, internists, psychiatric and medical nurses, social workers and occupational therapists to create a comprehensive treatment plan. The team also utilizes the consultation of medical and surgical subspecialities, neurology, neuropsychology, physical therapy, speech therapy and nutrition.
