When her back pain became unbearable, Lawrence Memorial Hospital got her back on her feet and back on the job.
“I never knew such great care was close to home.”
Karen Coburn, Saugus, MA
Karen is a busy working mother, busy at home, busy in the community and busy on the job. She has worked hard for more than 20 years for the US Postal Service. But when she injured her back she was afraid her life would never be the same.
A number of physicians she saw said her injury was severe enough that she should just go out on a disability. But she wanted to work and continue to be productive. “I was much too young to be debilitated. I was always on the go. I wouldn’t slow down and give into the pain.”
She tried a number of medical options but none of them were successful until her physician referred her to a renowned back surgeon at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.
“I felt so much better immediately after the surgery. Even in the recovery room, my back felt so much better.”
Karen is back on the job now and highly satisfied with the excellent care she received at Lawrence Memorial Hospital. “I was very nervous going in for a major surgery. But all of the staff were very reassuring and calming. They answered all my questions. And the surgeon was very calming with an excellent bedside manner. He made me feel very confident that everything was going to turn out fine.”
