The process of aging may bring many challenges such as:

These challenges can interfere with the process of healthy aging. Understanding and treating these problems can be complicated but help is readily available.

The Center for Healthy Minds provides comprehensive assessment and treatment services to help you reach your goals.

Our services


Upon calling the Center you will be scheduled for an hour long appointment with our geriatric psychiatrist. The psychiatrist will talk with you about your current concerns and will work with you to develop a plan of care.

The patient is the center of the treatment team and our staff will work with you and your family to develop a plan that meets your personal needs and goals. The plan of care will include additional assessments or ongoing treatment suggestions.

We will always communicate and coordinate your care with your primary care physician.

Treatment options and services offered include:

  • •  Medication evaluation/management
  • •  Behavioral/environmental strategies to assist caregivers
  • •  Individual/family psychotherapy
  • •  Occupational therapy services
  • •  Cognitive assessments for driving skills (DriveAble)
  • •  Linkage to community based resources
  • •  Support group for caregivers of patients with Alzheimers/other dementias
  • •  Educational programs regarding healthy aging/wellness

Clinical staff


The team includes David Harnett, MD. Dr. Harnett is a board-certified geriatric psychiatrist and has twenty five years of clinical experience. In addition to being the Medical Director of the Center, he serves as the System Medical Director for Behavioral Health at Hallmark Health System (HHS). He is an Associate Clinical Professor of Psychiatry at Tufts University School of Medicine. Dr. Harnett is regarded as an expert in geriatric psychopharmacology and treatment.


Carrie Huff Souto, OTR/L is an occupational therapist and serves as the Clinical Manager of the Center. A graduate of Boston University, Carrie has focused her career in the area of geriatric psychiatry and has been with HHS for the last fifteen years.  As an occupational therapist Carrie specializes in assessing a patient’s level of function and works to maximize independence and safety.


Michelle Rubin-DiGirolamo, LICSW is the Clinical Social Worker at the Center. She provides individual, family and group psychotherapy.  Having worked in both the inpatient and outpatient settings, Michelle specializes in treatment of depression and anxiety in older adults.  She holds a Master’s Degree from Simmons College and has been with HHS since 1998.
