June 1, 2012 – Hallmark Health System is proud to announce that it has been awarded a $100,000 grant from OneWorld Boston, a Cummings Foundation affiliate, for its new, state-of-the-art, Comprehensive Breast Center. This generous contribution will be used toward the purchase of a Siemens MammoTest, a fully digital prone table biopsy system, which will provide the best access, excellent imaging, and increased comfort for our patients undergoing a breast biopsy.
This grant provides a significant boost to the fundraising campaign Hallmark Health System kicked off on in March to raise more than $3 million within three years to launch the new Center. This model healthcare resource provides the easiest access to the highest standards of breast care in Boston’s northern suburbs. It brings together a wide range of clinical services in one setting, conveniently located at Hallmark Health System Stoneham Outpatient Campus, 41 Montvale Ave. in Stoneham.
“This very generous donation will help us continue our mission of bringing community based, comprehensive breast health to women of all ages,” said Elisa Scher, RN, MSN, system director of oncology services for Hallmark Health System. “We want to thank OneWorld Boston for their wonderful philanthropic support.”
The Siemens MammoTest Breast Biopsy System is advanced equipment for performing minimally-invasive stereotactic breast biopsy procedures, which use a three-dimensional computerized image to view in detail abnormal areas in the breast. The MammoTest will make the Center’s stereotactic breast biopsy procedures more efficient, precise, intuitive, and patient-friendly, in keeping with the Center’s goal of providing its breast care patients with the latest in effective, patient-centered technology.
“Cummings Properties feels strongly about giving back to the communities in which it operates,” said Dennis Clarke, president and CEO of Cummings Properties. “We recognize that Hallmark Health System has a very important role in the wellbeing of our community, and are pleased to support its new Comprehensive Breast Center through our grant-making affiliate.”
