Matthew Brown, MD, a well-known board-certified, general surgeon, has joined Hallmark Health Medical Associates.

Dr. Brown’s clinical interests include complex abdominal wall reconstructions, surgical management of the thyroid and parathyroid, breast and endocrine surgery and minimally invasive surgery.

He received his medical degree from Michigan State University College of Human Medicine, and completed his general surgical residency at the University of New Mexico Hospital. While in New Mexico, he also served as a Major in the US Air Force providing surgical care at Kirtland Air Force Base.

This is a return to Hallmark Health for Dr. Brown, who served as an attending general surgeon at Melrose-Wakefield and Lawrence Memorial Hospitals earlier in his career. He spent the past seven years practicing at Commonwealth Surgical Associates in Stoneham.

Dr. Brown is associate chairman of the Department of Surgery at Melrose-Wakefield Hospital and Lawrence Memorial Hospital. He will also oversee the Tufts Medical Center surgical residency program at Hallmark Health. First and third year residents will participate in the program.
