July 18, 2012 – Hallmark Health System (HHS) was awarded the national designation of one of the nation’s Most Wired hospitals for 2012. HHS joins an elite group of 200 hospitals throughout the country and only nine in Massachusetts to earn this prestigious recognition. HHS was recognized as one of the nation’s leading hospitals for its advanced work in the implementation and use of information technology (IT) that protects patient data and optimizes patient flow and communications. The 2012 Most Wired Survey was conducted in cooperation with the College of Healthcare Information Management Executives and the America Hospital Association. This recognition was reported in the July issue of Hospital & Health Networks magazine.
“We are very pleased and honored with this distinguished national recognition,” said James Nania, senior vice president and chief financial officer. ”Over the years, Hallmark Health System has made major financial investments in information technology which has made us a regional, state and national leader in its use to achieve the highest levels of safety for our patients.”
Richard Umbdenstock, president and CEO of the American Hospital Association said, “A Most Wired hospital demonstrates how IT not only can be used to improve patient care and safety but it is also a means to improve efficiency. This designation is a great honor.”
The magazine recognized HHS as Most Wired because the system has achieved excellence in the use of IT for operational efficiency, patient safety and satisfaction, along with significant advances in security protocols.
