The approval follows a site visit where staff from the American College of Surgeons examined cancer registry data, attended a tumor board meeting, toured Hallmark Health’s cancer center facilities and reviewed more than 50 patient records.

“We are honored to get this distinguished recognition from the American College of Surgeons,” said Rebecca Eisenberg, MD, medical director of the Hallmark Health Cancer Center. “It shows this highly respected organization has confidence in the comprehensive cancer care we are providing to our patients at Hallmark Health.”

The American College of Surgeons seeks to improve the quality of oncology care by enabling physicians to apply the best scientific evidence available in all aspects of their daily practice with respect, compassion and dignity for all patients. The organization is also dedicated to improving survival and quality of life for cancer patients through standard setting prevention, research, education and the monitoring of comprehensive quality care.

Hallmark Health’s cancer program offers patients local access to renowned surgeons, medical and radiation oncologists and provides access to the latest cancer treatments and support options.

Patients and their families can select from a full range of state-of-the-art services, all delivered with care and compassion. Hallmark Health’s multidisciplinary team provides each patient with an individualized plan, which is coordinated throughout all phases from diagnosis through treatment. Comprehensive cancer care is offered at both hospitals as well as the Hallmark Health Hematology/Oncology Center and the CHEM Center for Radiation Oncology located on Montvale Avenue in Stoneham.
