Hallmark Health offers a comprehensive breast health program, including four locations for screening mammography with a Breast Health Center for those women who require additional diagnostics and/or treatment.

3D Mammography (Breast Tomosynthesis)

A mammogram is an x-ray of your breast. It can detect breast tumors before they are felt. 3D mammography is performed at the same time as your annual 2D mammogram.   A 3D mammogram views your breast tissue layer by layer, so instead of viewing your breast tissue in a flat image, as with conventional 2D mammography, fine details are more visible.

3D Mammography is available at all four of our mammography locations, Health Image, Melrose, Lawrence Memorial Hospital, Medford, Hallmark Health Medical Center, Reading and at the Breast Health Center in Stoneham.

How to Prepare for a Mammogram

While the mammogram is a short test, there are a few things you can do to help simplify the procedure.

  • •   Bring previous mammogram films if you were tested at a different facility.
  • •   Do not apply powder, creams, or deodorant on the day of the mammogram as they may contain substances that could interfere with the accuracy of the x-rays.
  • •   Wear a top with a skirt or slacks since you will be asked to remove your top and bra.
